The fact that the movies are formulaic is not in and of itself a problem. Archetype is formula. But the franchise has passed through the hands of directors who seem to want to do little other than satisfy the needs of that formula.
So how can this problem be solved? How can the Bond series be regularly rejuvenated and reanimated? The answer, of course, lies in the Bond Rule, which I will now propose.
